Biography

Ms. Cacy Odom-Williams is responsible for working with investigators who are interested in conducting health equity research projects in collaboration with Milwaukee community-based organizations. Ms. Odom-Williams will be nurturing partnerships with investigators and organizations that serve the African-American residents of Milwaukee. She will serve as a critical liaison serving both UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee research and education interests and the health and wellness priorities of community-based organizations (CBOs) such as: the Lindsay Heights Neighborhood Initiative and the Social Development Commission, their program participants and other Milwaukee-based CBOs.

Based at the Center for Urban Population Health within the Community Partnerships Initiatives, the Research Ambassador position reflects the integrated efforts of the CUPH, the UW-Madison Collaborative Center for Health Equity (UW CCHE) and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) to assist in the development of partnerships to serve diverse underserved communities.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Ms. Odom-Williams has extensive experience and knowledge about diverse communities in the city. She most recently completed one year as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program at Safe & Sound. There she served as the Community Leadership Coordinator lending technical assistance and leadership to community initiatives focused on safe housing and community health and wellness. She is excited to bring her passion for then City of Milwaukee and its residents to CUPH.
