This presentation will feature:

Every seventy seconds someone develops Alzheimer's.  It costs billions, burdens the health care system, and is stressful to caregivers.  There is no cure.  How will we cope?

WITH GUESTS:

PIERO ANTUONO, MD is the director of the Dementia Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin.  He is a professor of neurology, pharmacology, and toxicology. Dr. Antuono is also president of the World Federation of Neurology Research Group on Dementia.

 

ANNE BASTING, PhD is the director of UW-Milwaukee’s Center on Age and Community and is an associate professor at the Peck School of the Arts.  She writes and teaches on issues of aging, including dementia.  Professor Basting’s latest book is Forget Memory: Creating Better Lives for People with Dementia.

 

GINA GREEN-HARRIS is a senior outreach specialist for the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute, UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. Ms. Green-Harris collaborates with a wide range of organizations to cultivate an understanding of Alzheimer’s impact on the community.  She also works closely with the Minority Alzheimer’s Prevention Program in Milwaukee.

 

TOM HLAVACEK is the executive director of the southeastern Wisconsin chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  The organization serves eleven counties in Wisconsin, where an estimated 50,000 people are affected by Alzheimer’s Disease.
