The primary purpose of this program is to engage promising new University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee investigators in Center-related population health research through significant salary and/or research assistant support.
The Center Scientist Development Program is supported through a grant from the Wisconsin Partnership Fund Medical Education and Research Committee's Strategic Allocation Initiative titled The Center for Urban Population Health Public Health Development Plan.
Funded Projects
Through this program, the Center has awarded funding to nine projects for a total of $441,027.
Purpose

Successful applicants will leverage funding from the Center Scientist Development Program to apply for federal funding from sources such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Science Foundation (NSF), Center for Disease Control (CDC) and others.
Applicants are new faculty and scientists from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with limited experience and/or funding in the area of population health research. Their projects are innovative and emphasize interdisciplinary teamwork involving the community.
