University of Wisconsin Population Health Service Fellow, Katarina Grande, and her mentor, Loren Galvão, MD, MPH, Associate Director of the Center, returned recently from a trip to Malawi, Africa. Dr. Galvão is Co-Principal Investigator on an NIH-funded project examining the relationship of HIV vulnerability to changes in economic environment and food security in rural Malawi. The Principal Investigator is Lance Weinhardt, PhD. Katarina's writes about her experiences in her blog.
As part of her fellowship, Katarina worked with the Milwaukee Health Department and the Center on several projects, including assisting Dr. Galvão in forming and facilitating a Milwaukee-based Community Advisory Board (CAB) related to the Survey of the Health of Wisconsin (SHOW) project. .
