The Center for Urban Population Health is turning 20 years old, and to begin celebrating, we sponsored a Dissemination & Implementation (D & I) Research Training Series in the fall of 2020.
D & I research focuses on how evidence-based practices, interventions, and policies are translated effectively into real-world settings. This training series focused broadly on health and health-related settings such as clinics and schools.

D & I Webinar: Dr. Russell Glasgow
In this one-hour introduction to D & I research, Dr. Glasgow provided an overview on what is D & I research and introduced the RE-AIM planning and evaluation framework. The webinar was geared toward investigators new to implementation science and included practical steps on how to begin to design an implementation science study to increase the likely relevance to stakeholders, implementation success, sustainability, and generalization across settings.
In addition, there was time at the end for questions. Dr. Glasgow is the Director of the Dissemination and Implementation Science Programs of ACCORDS at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. |

D & I Webinar: Dr. Rachel Lander
In this one-hour training, Dr. Lander discussed how to disseminate and implement initiatives, programs, and practices in real-world settings. She highlighted how implementation science frameworks can help practitioners effectively implement programs, taking into consideration the complexities and messiness of their local contexts. She also described how evaluators can use these frameworks to shape their evaluations.
Dr. Lander draws from her work in Milwaukee Public Schools as well as neighborhood improvement initiatives. She shared a D & I Backbone model she and colleagues from the Center for Urban Population Health designed and are testing in the Milwaukee community. Dr. Lander is a Senior Scientist with the Center for Urban Population Health and has over 20 years of experience in implementing programs in public schools, community initiatives, and neighborhoods. |
