Tobacco Surveillance, Evaluation, and Data Dissemination

Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the state and costs Wisconsinites an annual average $3.0 billion in direct health care costs and $1.6 billion in lost productivity. This project conducts surveillance research on tobacco use trends and evaluates tobacco prevention and control activities. The associated findings are used to inform the Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Control Program’s efforts focused on reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with tobacco use across the state.
